about us > the green aspect

mission
  1. Will last 750 nights or at minimum 3000 hours of light. Compare to 15 hours from a conventional old fashioned single use disposable flashlight.
  2. One kerosene lantern emits 100 kilos of carbon annually – DOE figures.
  3. Wood is harvested to provide light at night – less then 3% of Haiti has trees.
  4. We use NiMH batteries. Many flashlights use NiCad batteries – which contains deadly cadmium - when improperly disposed (trash or dump) the cadmium leaches into the ground water.
