Light Haiti is a world wide community partnership of organizations and people like you who want to make a permanent difference in the lives of the people of Haiti by providing them with light – transforming their day to day and night to night existence in ways that we take for granted in our ‘lighted’ lives. A light for a family will allow for an increased quality of life in many areas – education, improved economic condition, health, safety, security and family cohesion while ensuring when the next hurricane comes, they will be prepared.
This endeavor will provide 500,000 lights to the poorest of the poor of Haiti in a clear and directed manner – not as handouts, but handups – giving them a chance to improve their lives and asking of them a commitment to improve – in areas such as maintaining education standards or reforestation of a hillside or community clean up activities, depending on their local circumstances. Lights will be distributed by non-profits on the ground in Haiti who will report back to the senior partners on the impact of lighting.
This project is time ended and will not become a permanent mission – all funds must be raised by 31 March 2010 and all lights will be distributed by the end of 2010. Step out of your comfort zone and step up to help us – will you contribute or help us raise funds for Haiti?
